Preserving Our Environment

Our guiding principals are kaitiakitanga and manaakitanga: to care for, protect, respect and manage this beautiful piece of new zealand for generations to come.

We are proud of the heritage of the park being on the site of new zealands first paper mill in 1876. We aim to preserve the knowledge of transformation from paper mill to holiday park. We aim to preserve the natural beauty of this park and the wider local area including the ross creek walking tracks and the leith stream, in order that future generations may enjoy it as we do today. This means carefully meeting the needs of today while giving thought to the needs of tommorrow. We would be grateful if you assisted us in taking care of our beautiful piece of new zealand.

What we are doing:
1. Energy & water savings: we are maintaining energy efficient buildings by installing devices that reduce the amount of energy & water used in the park.
2. Recycling: waste management station is located at left end of amenities block, we also encourage you to put food scrapes in our compost bin at rear of amenities
3. Enviromental: our buildings are of colours to blend in with the enviroment and natural surroundings. We have undertaken to replant using native trees wherever possible

What you can do:
1. Energy & water savings: turn off lights and appliances when not in use, limit your time in the shower, re-use towels, dry clothes on lines instead of the driers.
2. Recycling: sort your rubbish correctly, leave unwanted magazines and books in the library for others to enjoy.
3. Enviromental: respect our park and our grounds, enjoy the beautiful leith stream and ross creek walking tracks with the native birds and glow worms.

Our community

We are committed to helping the community that we so proudly live in.

What we are doing:
1. Dedicated donors to the cancer society, sponser a guide dog.
2. Employ local people on our staff and use local trades people.
3. Donating unwanted goods, used linen and appliances to charity.
4. Allowing local community groups to use our facilities while using the walking tracks.

What you can do:
1. Respect our park and the walking tracks by picking up any rubbish and depositing in the recycling area.
2. Leave any unwanted goods for recycling and donating to charity.
